BOB: Welcome. I'm Bob the Drag Queen, and this is Advanced Humble Braggery--the art of being a humble winner in life. Bob tilts her head to the side and smiles. A chime rings. A purple background appears with text over it. A purple picture of Bob holding a stick appears. A logo for Lessons in Flawless appears in the bottom corner. Light music plays. ON SCREEN TEXT: ADVANCED HUMBLE BRAGGERY PRESENTED BY BOB THE DRAG QUEEN LESSON 3: GLAMANOMICS Bob stands in front of the colorful animated room. BOB: Our lesson this week is called Glamanomics--which is especially important for those of you who didn't just win $100,000. And no, this is not some "cut lattes out of your life to save for retirement" lesson. This is some real-life advice on making an investment in yourself. So let's get started, shall we? Black and white text appears on screen. ON SCREEN TEXT: TIP #1 BROKE IS A STATE OF MIND BOB: Tip number one: broke is a state of mind. Scarcity is creativity's best friend, because not having enough forces you to make do with what you got. Bob tilts her head to the side and looks into the camera. BOB: So remember, even though someone else may be in a more expensive gown than you, you still have the chance to turn the ball by serving and creating a one-of-a-kind original couture. And let me tell you, this advice extends way beyond your outfits; to your home, your meals, your personality, and so much more. Just find one thing that you love, make it your own, watch it shine. Black and white text appears on screen. ON SCREEN TEXT: TIP #2 MONEY DOESN'T BUY EVERYTHING BOB: Tip number two: money doesn't buy everything. If you want to keep your money coming in, as the old saying goes, you better work. Now, to be sure you have another gig lined up, you gotta invest in your relationships. It's a small world, and if people don't like you and your attitude, they won't help you pay your bills. There's a reason that one employee never charges you extra for your guac. They always charge. "Guac is extra." Black and white text appears on screen. ON SCREEN TEXT: TIP #3 THERE IS NO SHAME IN A PURSE THAT IS BUY ONE, GET ONE FREE BOB: Tip number three: there is no shame in having a purse that is buy one, get one free. 'Cause let's face it, the fabric of the purse doesn't matter. It's the fabric of the girl. Yeah. Plot twist. Now, when you're a designer on the inside, you'll outlast all the knock-offs holding onto $3,000 of debt. Girl, purse ain't even that cute. Bob stands with one arm outstretched holding a purse and one hand on her hip. She drops the purse and reveals she's still holding a second purse. BOB: But if you really want to know about Glamanomics, you gotta stop lighting up every time you go out. Because smoking even half a pack a day can cost about $1,000 a year. And I don't care how rich you are, no self-respecting person should be spending almost a grand giving themselves cancer. Which brings me to the real lesson: you are not worth less just because you have less. You decide your worth through your actions, your confidence, and your attitude. So work it like a million bucks, child. And tune in next time when we talk about my favorite lesson: Purse First. Bob drops the purse on the ground and raises her hands in the air. BOB: Bye! Bob walks off screen. A teal background appears with pink and black text on it next to a purple picture of Bob wearing glasses. ON SCREEN TEXT: LESSON COMPLETE SEE YOU NEXT TIME, SUGAR. Now it's time to test your knowledge. Take the flawless quiz. ThisFreeLife.GOV/LESSONS For any more help, please email tobaccocampaigns@fda.hhs.gov
